Weather Update Delhi-NCR chilled down with 40 hours of nonstop rains; Heavy rainfall predicted for UP & Northeast

Weather Update: IMD has issued severe rain warnings for regions of the Northeast, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat as well as the nation’s capital, which awoke to waterlogged streets.

Waterlogging has occurred in several regions of the Delhi-NCR and other nearby areas due to the 40 hours of nonstop rain.

In the past 24 hours, Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, and Ayaynagar in Delhi had measured rain totals of 74.3mm, 87.2mm, and 85.2mm, respectively. Rainfall totals of 60 and 64 millimetres were reported for Delhi Ridge and Palam, respectively. These figures are unusual for October, according to analysts.

Delhi

The Delhi-NCR region was expected to experience mild to moderate rain during the early hours of Sunday over the whole region and its surrounding areas. However, the rain has led to better air quality. It is expected that the same weather will continue in Delhi for a few days more.

People in NCR will continue to experience similar kind of rainfall.

Mumbai

The city and it suburbs will generally remain cloudy. However, light showers are also expected during the daytime. However, the weather will, substantially remain colder like previous days.

Chennai

The sky condition is likely to be cloudy. Some regions can experience thunderstorms with moderate showers.

Heavy rainfall to happen in these states

Fairly widespread to widespread rains with locally heavy falls are expected over western portions of Central, West and South India.

Very heavy rainfall is possible over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh while heavy rains are forecast over Northeast India.

Drizzles expected in these states

Odisha, East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Karnataka will receive light showers to moderate rainfall with the sky remaining generally cloudy.

Minimal rainfall in Punjab and neighbouring states

As per the latest weather update, Isolated rains with thunderstorms are likely over Jharkhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch.
