Weather Update: There is a good chance of isolated areas of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over southern Tamil Nadu, as well as isolated areas of heavy rainfall over southern Kerala and Lakshadweep. There is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (up to 30–40 kmph) over Lakshadweep, as well as isolated thunderstorms with lightning over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe. Dense fog is most likely present in sporadic pockets over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam and Meghalaya. Over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, along and off the coasts of Sri Lanka, south Tamil Nadu, the Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area, along and off the coast of Kerala, the Lakshadweep area, and the adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea, squally weather (wind speed 40–45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph) is likely to prevail.

It is highly probable that there will be light to moderate rainfall in certain areas of Tamil Nadu; in many places over Kerala and Mahe on December 18, and in most places over Lakshadweep on December 19. On December 18, there is a chance of isolated, heavy rainfall over southern Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and on December 18, over Lakshadweep. On December 18, 2023, there is also a good chance of isolated, extremely heavy rainfall over south Kerala and south Tamil Nadu. On December 18, 2023, there were probably a few isolated, very heavy downpours in southern Tamil Nadu. On December 18, there is a good chance of isolated, light snowfall or rain over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad. Over the next three days, there is probably going to be a 2°C drop in the minimum temperature in many parts of Northwest India, with no further significant changes.
