Weather Update: Many schools are shuttered as a result of the cold wave. While states like Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab are under a cold wave alert, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand have received an alert regarding snowfall. A severe cold and fog signal has been issued by the Meteorological Department for the next three to five days in certain parts of North India. The Meteorological Department issued a red notice, stating that there will likely be periods of dense fog in North India for the next five days and periods of cold days for the next three days.

According to IMD, there is a high probability of dense to extremely dense fog in certain areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh; there may be isolated pockets of dense fog over Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya, as well as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. It is possible that certain areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, as well as certain isolated areas of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, would experience chilly to extremely cold days. There may be cold days in several areas of Rajasthan and Bihar. Very probable, isolated areas of Bihar will experience cold wave to severe cold wave conditions. Conditions of a cold wave in certain areas of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh. Conditions of ground frost in isolated areas of Uttarakhand are quite probable.
