Weather Update: According to the latest bulletin from the central weather forecasting agency, Central India is likely to experience a new heat wave over the next two days. East India is also expected to witness a fresh spell of heat wave starting from May 15. The bulletin highlights that Gangetic West Bengal is particularly prone to heat wave conditions on May 15 and 16, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha may experience it until May 17. Regions such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Marathawada, East Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Telangana have already recorded temperatures ranging from 40-42 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall is predicted to begin in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and parts of Odisha around May 15 or 16. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation system is currently present over East Uttar Pradesh. The previous rain spell in East India occurred in late April and early May, but the upcoming rainfall is expected to be more substantial. There is a possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning strikes. Thunder and lightning are typical weather occurrences during the pre-monsoon season in East India.

Delhi
The national capital is projected to remain warm and experience heatwave conditions today. The sky will remain clear and it will be sunny throughout. The maximum temperature, for today, will be 42 degrees and the minimum will be 28 degrees.
Mumbai
IMD has stated that the city and its suburbs will begin the day with partly overcast conditions. However, from the noon, it will become sunny and clear. Humidity will remain at 75% while the maximum temperature will be 33 degrees and the minimum will be 29 degrees.
Chennai
Chennai is predicted to remain mostly clear throughout the day. However, hazy conditions are likely to show their effect on the region throughout. Humidity will remain at 74% while the maximum temperature will be 38 degrees and the minimum will be 29 degrees.
Kolkata
Kolkata is predicted to remain sunny throughout. The evening will experience patches of clouds. Rainfall is likely to lash the city from Tuesday. Humidity will remain at 80% while the maximum temperature will be 37 degrees and the minimum will be 27 degrees.
