Weather Update: The national capital is predicted to have a largely overcast sky and little rain, which might provide a little break from the cold wave conditions. An India Meteorological Department advisory today indicated that despite this, isolated pockets of cold wave conditions are extremely likely to continue over Delhi and its neighbouring states starting on January 15 (Sunday).

Across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Western UP, the current western disturbance and stronger surface winds have substantially relieved the fog situation; nevertheless, a dense to extremely dense fog cover is still present over Eastern UP and Bihar.

Delhi

The national capital is predicted to be shrouded with scattered showers throughout the day. The chilly conditions will continue to embark Delhi and surrounding regions while fog will continue its impact in late night hours. For today, the maximum temperature will be 16 degrees while the minimum will be 11 degrees.

Mumbai

As per the latest weather update, Mumbai is predicted to remain sunny and bright for today. Though, some haze could be present during the morning. This kind of weather pattern is likely to continue for few more days. For today, the maximum temperature will be 28 degrees and minimum will be 18 degrees.

Chennai

IMD predicts that Chennai will be partly cloudy today while the humidity will be on higher note as well. Though, no rains are predicted for the city in a while. For today, the maximum temperature will be 29 degrees and minimum will be 22 degrees.

Kolkata

The weather will be sunny in Kolkata today. Though, there is a slight change in the temperatures as the conditions are moving towards a shift in weather. For today, the maximum temperature will be 30 degrees while the minimum will be 16 degrees.

City-wise Weather Update

The approaching cold wave will feel as though it is freezing. The temperature would drop below -4 degrees Celsius in states like Punjab, Rajasthan, and certain areas of Haryana, while it may only rise by 1 degree Celsius in the capital.

Meanwhile, the IMD has warned that over the next five days, isolated pockets of dense to very dense fog are likely to form over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the night and early morning hours due to the persistence of the prevailing light winds and high moisture near the surface over the Indo-Gangetic plains.
