Weather Update: A new period of light to moderate rainfall is expected over coastal Tamil Nadu from December 30, 2023, to January 1, 2024, due to the influence of strong northeasterly winds. On the 25th, there is a good chance of light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning. Northwest India is expected to be hit by a new Western Disturbance on December 29. It is predicted to interact with lower-level easterly winds to produce a wet spell over the northwest region bordering Central India between December 30, 2023, and January 2, 2024.

Over the next three days, there is a good chance of isolated areas of light to moderate rainfall over Northeast India. On December 24, 2023, there is a chance of an isolated thunderstorm with hailstorm over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Probably in isolated pockets over East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha; dense to very dense fog in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, and East Uttar Pradesh. Squally Weather over the South Andaman Sea is expected to be 40–45 kmph with gusts up to 55 kmph. It is very likely that a strong wind over the Comorin area will blow between 45 and 55 kmph with gusts up to 65 kmph. It is not advised for fishermen to go into these areas.
