Weather Update: There is widespread uncertainty regarding whether Raksha Bandhan will be observed on August 30 or August 31. Regardless of the chosen day, it’s important to consider the weather conditions beforehand. In this regard, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a forecast, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall in certain regions of Northeast, East, and South India until Friday. From August 30 to 31, moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in certain parts of Assam and Meghalaya.

Similarly, among the hill states such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, as well as certain areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Bihar, the likelihood of storms accompanied by lightning persists until August 31. As indicated by the Meteorological Department’s update, a reduced chance of rain is projected for the rest of the country until Rakshabandhan.

There are chances for heavy rainfall in specific areas of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Isolated regions of Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.

Delhi

As per the latest weather update, Delhi is predicted to remain mostly sunny the entire day. There are no chances of cloud cover or rainfall in the region. Weather conditions will continue to remain the same for the upcoming days. For today, the maximum temperature will be 37 degrees while the minimum will be 27 degrees with humidity at 64%.

Mumbai

Predicting relief, Mumbai and its suburbs will remain sunny throughout the day while noon can be partly cloudy though. However, there are minimal chances of rain lashing the region. For today, the maximum temperature will be 31 degrees while the minimum will be 26 degrees with humidity at 85%.

Chennai

Chennai is predicted to remain partly cloudy, however, there will be scattered thunderstorms with moderate rainfall in the evening and early-night. For today, the maximum temperature will be 33 degrees while the minimum will be 26 degrees with humidity at 84%.

Kolkata

IMD has forecast a partly cloudy day for Kolkata. There are low to zero chances of rain affecting the city the entire day. However, beginning from 1st of September, rains will once again take on the region. For today, the maximum temperature will be 35 degrees while the minimum will be 28 degrees with humidity at 79%.
