Weather Update: North on verge of drizzle, will cold wave decrease? Know IMD’s latest forecast here

Weather Update: Residents of Northwest India will finally see a little break from the agonising cold this week after suffering through bone-chilling evenings for the previous several weeks. An active western disturbance is anticipated to cause a 2-4°C rise in low temperatures over the northwest plains over the course of the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Consequently, Northwest India won't get a cold wave until at least Friday (January 13). The IMD announces a cold wave in the plains when a region's lowest temperature falls by 4.5°C to 6.4°C from its average. On the other hand, the chilly daytime weather predicted for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh will also subside starting from today, providing some pleasant midday warmth to these regions of the nation.

According to the weather advisory released by the India Meteorological Department on Wednesday, there will likely be light rain in some areas of Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana during the next two days.

Delhi

IMD has predicted that the national capital will finally get some relief today. Though, there won't be any respite in fog, the cold wave will continue to subside beginning today. The maximum temperature, for today, will be 19 degrees and minimum will be 13 degrees. Light drizzle are also predicted for today.

Mumbai

The city and its suburbs are likely to continue with their pleasant run for several upcoming days. The sky is likely to be clear and sunny for the whole day. For today, the maximum temperatures will be 30 degrees while the minimum will be 21 degrees.

Chennai

Chennai will remain sunny and firm today. There are no chances of rain happening in upcoming several days, ensuring that pleasant weather continues. For today, the maximum temperature will be 29 degrees while the minimum will be 22 degrees.

Kolkata

As per the latest weather update, Kolkata will have a sunny weather today with some hazy effect present throughout. As per the IMD, the maximum temperature will be 27 degrees while the minimum will be 14 degrees.

City-wise Weather Update

The IMD classifies the day as cold in the plains when the lowest temperature is 10°C or below and the maximum temperature deviates by 4.5°C to 6.4°C from the usual. Residents of northwest Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana will enjoy this increase in temperature, especially since those regions were still experiencing cold waves and chilly day conditions as of yesterday.
