Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department issued an "orange alert" in five districts of Kerala, including the southern district of Pathanamthitta and the northern districts of Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, predicting extremely heavy rains there as the Southwest monsoon continues to dump rain in Kerala. With thunderstorms and rain expected, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow advisory for Thane and Mumbai. The meteorological service has forecast high surface winds for Delhi on Sunday, along with maximum and lowest temperatures that are expected to hover around 42 and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The IMD is predicting rains in the isolated areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka likely to experience extremely severe rainfall. There has been significant rains throughout Tamil Nadu (including Chennai) and West Bengal (including Kolkata) along with several areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya and certain interior Karnataka regions. It is highly probable that certain regions of Uttar Pradesh will experience heatwave conditions, with isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. However few regions of Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand also likely to experience heatwave conditions.

According to reports, Lucknow's highest temperature on Sunday could hit 43°C. Over the course of the weekend, with intense heatwaves and intense heat, the temperature could rise by up to 6°C.
