Weather update: Rain spells to bring respite in Northwest India, predicts IMD; check out complete forecast here

While heatwave conditions are prevalent in the northwestern part of the country, states in Northeast and South India are witnessing heavy rainfall. Amid this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that northwest India will soon breathe a sigh of relief as rain spells are predated in the region on May 22 and May 23. 

As per the IMD’s daily weather bulletin, heatwave conditions are likely to hit West Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand till May 23. In Northeast India, the maximum temperatures are very likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius this week. 

Light to moderate spells of rains are predicted in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the next three days, said the weather department. According to IMD, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya from May 22 to May 25. 

Delhi weather update

The temperature in Delhi is expected to go as high as 43 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will remain at 30 degrees Celsius. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a heatwave warning has been issued in Delhi and some of its neighboring NCR cities.

Mumbai weather update

Mumbai is expected to have a cloudy day but the humidity condition will remain in place. The highest temperature is expected to go as high as 33 Degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 28 degrees Celsius. 

Chennai weather update

The heatwaves-like conditions continue to prevail in Chennai with the maximum temperature going as high as 42 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature will be at 27 degrees Celsius. But, in a sense of relief, the city has cloudy days ahead with the temperature dropping by 2-3 degrees Celsius. 

Kolkata weather update

Kolkata is set to have a wet spell from Tuesday with the temperature dropping from today. The maximum temperature in the city will be recorded at 37 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature has been recorded at 28 degrees.
