Weather Update Rainfall predicted in several states; Schools in UP closed, WFH in NCR

Weather Update: On Thursday and earlier in the week, significant rain fell in certain areas of NCR. After a day of nonstop lightning to moderate rain yesterday, private and corporate offices in Gurgaon have been asked to allow employees to work from home today. At least ten districts in Uttar Pradesh have announced their schools to be closed today.

In the latest forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Thursday, September 22, 2022, that the northwest region of India’s rainfall activity is projected to reduce over the next several days. “Today, northwest India will experience a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall, followed by a drop. Over the following five days, there won’t be any notable rainfall in the rest of the nation,” According to IMD.

Delhi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a “yellow advisory,” warning that most locations in the city would experience moderate rain.

Mumbai

In the latest weather update, Mumbai and city suburbs are expected to receive light to moderate rains. Also, the sky will generally be cloudy throughout the day.

Chennai

The weather is expected to be cloudy in the city. However, the department has not issued any warning of severity.

North India

According to department, significant rain is predicted to fall in some areas of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh over the next few days. On Friday, heavy downpours in a few locations in Madhya Pradesh are predicted.

Haryana and Chandigarh will also receive light showers along with the cloudy atmosphere.

Northeast India

IMD predicts severe rains until September 24 for a number of northeastern states, including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

Odisha, Telangana, Gujarat and Chattisgarh

Widespread to moderate rainfall is expected in the states today. While, the isolated areas may also receive thunderstorm and lightning.

In addition, there was very heavy rain on Thursday in a few scattered locations over Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal in the Sub-Himalayas, Sikkim, West Madhya Pradesh, and East Rajasthan. Several areas of East Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Gujarat Region saw heavy rains.
