Weather update: Severe heat wave continues in entire North India including Delhi with temperature soaring as high as 45 degrees Celsius. Apart from Delhi, Rajasthan is also experiencing a severe heatwave. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is predicted in several parts of the country in the coming two-three days, bringing the much-needed respite.
“We have issued heatwave alert for today for south Haryana, Delhi, south UP, north MP, Jharkhand, Bihar and Bengal. Tomorrow, heatwave alert is not given for any place other than Jharkhand,” said IMD scientist Soma Sen Roy.
Delhi weather update
A yellow alert was issued for Delhi on Monday with the temperature soaring above 45 degrees Celsius. However, from today, the temperature is expected to fall by two to three degrees with a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature is expected to go as low as 27 degrees.
Mumbai weather update
Mumbai will have a sunny day today with the maximum temperature going as high as 34 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature for the city is predicted to be at 28 degrees Celsius.
Chennai weather update
In Chenna, the sky is likely to be partly cloudy with maximum temperature soaring at 36 degrees Celsius. A thunderstorm with light to moderate rain is also likely to occur in some regions of the city, as per IMD. The minimum temperature in the city will remain at 29 degrees Celsius.
Kolkata weather update
Kolkata has been reporting a drop in temperature for the past few days and the trend is likely to continue today with a cloudy weather. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Kolkata will be recorded at 37 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively. The city is expected to experience rain spells from Wednesday.
