Weather Update: The latest forecast for today is out and as per the bulletin, heavy rainfall is likely to drench Northeast and Southern India today. North will mostly remain hot & humid with minimal chances of rain. Isolated regions across various parts of India are bracing for intense weather conditions in the coming days. The forecast points to heavy to very heavy rainfall in specific areas, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Similar thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning, are expected in other isolated regions such as Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Driest August recorded ever

August 2023 could mark India’s driest August on record since 1901, with a staggering rain deficit of over 33%. As the month concludes, national rainfall stands at 160.3 mm, significantly lower than the average 241 mm. This deficit raises concerns about a potential overall shortfall in this year’s monsoon season. However, September is anticipated to rake in much more rainfall.

Delhi

IMD has forecast that the national capital will remain mostly sunny throughout the day. There is no possibility of relief from the heat as of now as no clouds or rain is predicted for the upcoming few days. For today, the maximum temperature will be 37 degrees while the minimum will be 28 degrees with humidity at 54%.

Mumbai

Mumbai and its suburbs are also forecast to remain on the same line. There are no chances of rain drenching the city until the weekend. For today, the maximum temperature will be 31 degrees while the minimum will be 26 degrees with humidity at 79%.

Chennai

Isolated thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are forecast for Chennai in patches for the entire day. The weather trend is most likely to be relieving and pleasant. For today, the maximum temperature will be 33 degrees while the minimum will be 26 degrees with humidity at 80%.

Kolkata

Kolkata is projected to remain mostly cloudy the entire day. The chances of rainfall are very minimal, however, isolated regions could experience drizzles. For today, the maximum temperature will be 34 degrees while the minimum will be 28 degrees with humidity at 87%.
