Weather Update: Light rain or snowfall is very likely to fall on December 29 and 30, 2023, over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand due to a recent Western Disturbance. Owing to events in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh from December 31, 2023, to January 2, 2024. From December 31 to January 2, 2024, light to moderate isolated to scattered rainfall is very likely over south Tamil Nadu and Kerala due to the influence of a new easterly wave. On December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024, there is also a chance of isolated, heavy rainfall over southern Tamil Nadu.

Dense to extremely dense fog conditions are expected to persist during the night and morning hours in many areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and certain areas of Uttar Pradesh from the 29th to the 30th, and in certain areas for the next three days. Dense fog conditions are expected to persist during the night and morning hours in a few isolated areas over the following regions: north Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, Odisha from December 29 to December 31, Bihar on December 30 and 31, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from December 29, 2023, to January 1, 2024. On December 29, there is a good chance of cold day conditions in some areas of West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and isolated pockets in East Uttar Pradesh.
