Weather Update: There is a good chance that there will be isolated areas of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Kerala, Mahe, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu across Karnataka's southern interior. Strong winds (between 30 and 40 kmph) and lightning are predicted to occur in isolated locations over Kerala and Mahe, as well as in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Lakshadweep. Due to western disturbances, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate snowfall and rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir on Friday.

It is quite probable that squally weather, with wind gusts of up to 55 kmph, would persist over the Gulf of Mannar, Comorin region, Kerala coast, and Lakshadweep area. It is advised that fishermen avoid these regions.

Weather warning over western India

On November 25 and 26, a new Western Disturbance will move into northwest India as an upper-level trough that reaches the East Central Arabian Sea off the shores of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa. The top and middle tropospheric levels of the aforesaid mid-latitude westerlies trough will therefore interact with the lower level trough in the easterlies. It is also anticipated that between November 26 and 28, there will be sporadic light rainfall over the Western Himalayan Region and the Northwest Indian plains. Across Uttarakhand on November 27, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail are expected in some isolated areas.
