Weather Update: There is a good chance of isolated areas of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over south Kerala and Tamil Nadu, as well as isolated areas of heavy rainfall over Lakshadweep. Lightning and strong winds (up to 30–40 kmph) associated with a thunderstorm are probably isolated over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep. Dense fog is probably present in sporadic areas over Meghalaya, Tripura, Assam, Punjab, and Haryana. Strong offshore winds with gusts up to 45 kmph are predicted to blow along and off the Gujarat coast. Many areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, some parts of Uttar Pradesh, and many areas of north Rajasthan have minimum temperatures between 4 and 8°C and 8 to 11°C.

A few locations in Tamil Nadu, numerous locations in Kerala and Mahe on December 17–18, and Lakshadweep on December 17–19 are very likely to experience light to moderate rainfall. On December 17 and 18, there is a chance of isolated, heavy rainfall over Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu, as well as over Lakshadweep. On December 17, 2023, there is also a good chance of isolated, extremely heavy rainfall over southern Tamil Nadu and southern Kerala. On December 17, there is a good chance of isolated, light snowfall or rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and north Punjab as well as over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad.
