Weather Update: In most states of the country, temperatures are on the rise, marking the beginning of the heat wave season. An alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department to warn people of the heat wave. Meanwhile, in several states of North India, the heat is intensifying day by day, leading to a heat wave alert being issued in some areas of the national capital Delhi on Saturday. However, there is a possibility of rain on April 18 due toa new western disturbance, while the Meteorological Department has predicted scattered rains in the western districts of Uttar Pradesh on April 18 and 19.
There is a high probability of light rain and thundershowers occurring in one or two areas of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, parts of Kerala, and Gujarat. Meanwhile, moderate rain may take place in one or two places, with light rain expected over Arunachal Pradesh and East Assam.
A clear rand sunny day is forecast for the national capital by IMD. Unlike other regions, the temperature won't cross the 40-degree mark in Delhi today. The humidity will be on the higher end, though. For today, the maximum temperature will be 40 degrees and the minimum will be 24 degrees.
Mumbai
As per the latest weather update, the city and its suburbs will be partly overcast. However, the weather agency also predicts that no major change is likely in weather trends in the upcoming days. For today, the maximum temperature will be 34 degrees and minimum will be 27 degrees.
Chennai
IMD has forecast that Chennai will remain sunny throughout the day. However, isolated regions could be partly overcast. Humidity will be higher today. The maximum temperature will be 36 degrees and minimum will be 27 degrees.
Kolkata will continue to remain under the influence of heatwaves. For today, the maximum temperature will be 42 degrees and the minimum will be 28 degrees. Humidity is expected to be higher while wind will also be on moderate note.
