Weather Updates: Monsoon to Pick Up in Delhi

Weather Updates: The Indian Meteorological Department forecast moderate rain or thundershowers in the National Capital over the next three days. This means rainfall activity is set to pick up from Thursday in Delhi.

According to the weather department, the monsoon trough is likely to “continue to shift gradually northwards,” which would lead to an increase in the rainfall activity over north India beginning from Wednesday.

At Delhi’s primary weather station, the Safdarjung Observatory, there have been recordings of 232.8 mm of rainfall so far in July as opposed to a normal of 183.3 mm.

It has also logged 257.3 mm of precipitation as opposed to a normal of 257.4 mm since June 1 when the monsoon season begins.

The observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 26.7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

The maximum temperature settled at 34.6 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year.

According to the weather bureau, the maximum temperature is most likely to remain below 34 degrees Celsius for the next five days.
