World Environment Day 2023:The day marks the completion of 50 years of its establishment. This year the theme of the World Environment Day is ‘ BeatPlasticPollution’. The theme will focus on solution to plastic pollution under the campaign #Beat Plastic Pollution. It is reminder for all that people’s action on plastic pollution matter. The steps governments and other organizations are taking to tackle plastic pollution are the consequences of this action. The protection of the environment is a global need that can be achieved through international cooperation. The environment has suffered a lot due to industrialization. This day encourages people to adopt eco-friendly practices.

The United Nations Environment program proposed this special day for the environment in 1972 which was designated by the U N General Assembly. This year the theme of the World Environment Day is ‘ Beat Plastic Pollution’ highlighting people’s action towards plastic pollution reduction. This day encourages people , individual and Government and International bodies to prioritize eco-friendly practices for a Greener world and the Protection of the environment. This day is being celebrated as annual Global event to raise awareness on the protection and preservation of the environment.
First Environment Day was observed on June 5, 1972
World environment Day is the biggest platform that advocated the practice of sustainable development around the whole world. With the excessive use and over utilization of natural resources , it is likely that the future generations will be deprived of these resources. Millions of people around the globe participate in this program to protect and conserve the environment to fulfill the needs of the future generation. The United Nations Environment Program proposed a special day for the Environment in 1972 , the U N General Assembly designated it as World Environment Day. The first Environment Day was observed on June 5, 1973, with the slogan – Only one earth.
