Wrestlers Continue To Protest At Jantar Mantar, Here’s Details

Wrestlers protest

Wrestlers continue to protest at Jantar Mantar over allegations of sexual harassment against Indian Wrestling Federation chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Meanwhile, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Monday (May 1) linked this movement with Shaheen Bagh and Kisan Andolan.

He said that ‘Tukde-tukde gang, Shaheen Bagh, the forces involved in the farmer’s movement seem to be involved in this (protest of wrestlers), I am not their target, the party (BJP) is their target. These athletes are given money.

Apart from this, videos of objectionable slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the wrestlers’ dharna at Jantar Mantar are also going viral on social media. Not only this, some wrestlers who participated in this movement had targeted PM Modi by referring to the farmer’s movement.

However, after these videos went viral, Bajrang Punia said that some people are trying to take the movement in a different direction and want to make it an ‘inflammatory movement’. In this situation, the question is bound to arise whether the performance of the wrestlers has been hijacked?

Wrestlers called upon Khap Panchayats to join the strike

After the FIR was registered against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on allegations of sexual harassment, the wrestlers had sought support from the Khap leaders. On the very next day, several Khap Panchayat leaders participated in the wrestlers’ dharna at Jantar Mantar. On behalf of Sarvkhap Panchayat, Jagbir Malik said that we are with our daughters. She is crying sitting at Jantar Mantar. Something must have happened to them. They are wrestler, does not sit and cry like this. All Khap Panchayats are in their support. Most of these khap panchayats were involved in the peasant movement.
