Yogi Adityanath to take oath for the second time as UP Chief Minister today

Yogi Adityanath will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second time on Friday in a grand ceremony at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.

Many BJP biggies including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states are expected to attend the event.

Yogi Adityanath will script history as he takes oath as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for a second term in office after completing a full five-year term, a feat none of his predecessors has been able to achieve. However, there is no confirmation about names of his deputies and the number of ministers in his second term. As per constitutional provisions, UP can have a maximum of 60 ministers including the chief minister.

The monk-leader had contested the assembly polls and won the Gorakhpur Sadar seat by a huge margin.

On his victory, Adityanath said the prime minister’s mantra of “sabka saath, sabka vikas” made an impact despite the opposition propaganda. Amit Shah also hailed Adityanath, saying no party returned to power in UP in 37 years.”In the past 37 years, no party got full majority again in Uttar Pradesh. It is historic that the BJP is the only party, which got over two-third seats for the second consecutive time,” Shah said referring to the Assembly polls.On his victory, Adityanath said the prime minister’s mantra of “sabka saath, sabka vikas” made an impact despite the opposition propaganda. Amit Shah also hailed Adityanath, saying no party returned to power in UP in 37 years.

Meanwhile, the BJP has created other records with its successive victory in Uttar Pradesh. It is the first time that a party has returned to power in successive polls after 37 years.

The BJP won 255 seats in Uttar Pradesh with its allies in the state also registering impressive performance. The chief minister is expected to carry the momentum of the party’s electoral victory to fulfill the poll promises and give a further push for the development of the state in his second term.
