You don’t get justice from Jantar Mantar: WFI chief to protesting wrestlers

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and a BJP member of parliament, attacked the wrestlers who were protesting in New Delhi. Jantar Mantar doesn’t provide justice, according to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s remarks on Sunday.

Following the filing of two FIRs against Singh by the Delhi Police in response to claims of sexual harassment made by seven female wrestlers, the remark was made. The first FIR was filed under the POCSO Act and concerned claims involving a young wrestler, while the second concerned outraging modesty.

According to Brij Bhushan Singh, individuals who have made accusations against him are members of an akhada that is supported by Congressman Deepender Hooda.

“90% of the athletes and guardians of Haryana trust the Wrestling Federation of India. A few families and the girls who have levelled allegations belonged to the same ‘akhada’. The patron of that ‘akhada’ is Deepender Hooda,” WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said.

Meanwhile, seven complainants who have accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment have got security from Delhi Police.

Following a directive from the Supreme Court, Delhi Police increased the level of security. The change occurs two days after two FIRs were filed against the WFI leader, a BJP MP.

Yogeshwar Dutt, an Olympic medalist and wrestler who served on the committee that looked into claims of sexual harassment against wrestlers, said that now that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been charged with a crime, grapplers should concentrate on their sport.
