The 8th Pay Commission has completed six months since its formation, with steady progress reported in its review covering the period from April 3 to May 3, 2026.

According to updates shared online, the commission has now reached the midpoint of its initial timeline, with 6 months completed and 12 months remaining for its recommendations process.

8th Pay Commission: Key developments so far


One of the major steps taken includes the initiation of staff hiring on a contract basis, which began on April 10, indicating that the commission is strengthening its operational capacity.

Further, the National Council–Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), representing government employees, submitted a detailed 51-page memorandum on April 14, outlining demands and expectations regarding salary revisions, allowances, and service conditions.
