Riddhi Siddhi Mandal, based in JB Nagar, Andheri (East), is using the power of live theatre to spark a meaningful conversation with India’s Gen Z on responsible protest, civic participation and nation-building.
Through an engaging live drama presented during the 10-day Ganpati celebrations, the Mandal explores a question increasingly relevant to young India: Can we raise our voices against what is wrong while also taking responsibility for what comes next?

The skit brings together perspectives from three generations of a family, highlighting that protest has always been an important part of a healthy democracy, but that it must be driven by awareness, responsibility and respect for the nation and fellow citizens. With around half of India’s population under the age of 30, the youth have an important role to play in shaping the country’s future.
In its 51st year, Riddhi Siddhi Mandal continues its tradition of addressing social issues through live skits, having previously covered topics such as mental health awareness, family bonding, political party-hopping, collapsing city infrastructure, support for transgender communities and the importance of verifying fake news.
This year too, the Mandal’s eco-friendly Ganesh murti, crafted using natural components, along with its socially relevant live drama, has been attracting large crowds.
Kiran Patel, Organizer, Riddhi Siddhi Mandal, Andheri, Mumbai said, “Our Ganpati celebrations have always been about more than tradition. They are also an opportunity to bring people together and address issues that matter to society. Gen Z is the future of the nation and has a powerful voice. We want to encourage young people to use that voice responsibly, constructively and with a sense of responsibility towards the country.”
Shashi Shetty, Organizer, Riddhi Siddhi Mandal, Andheri, Mumbai added, “As we celebrate our 51st year, we continue our tradition of presenting Lord Ganesha in the ‘Vinayaki’ roop—the feminine form of Lord Ganesha. Our idol is crafted using tissue paper, alum and natural gum, making it completely eco-friendly. We have also adopted an artificial pond for visarjan, helping us celebrate the festival without contributing to marine pollution. Through these efforts, we hope to encourage greater awareness and responsibility towards protecting our environment.”
