A leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, Anurag Dhanda, has praised Bhagwant Mann’s education reforms, claiming Punjab has become one of the best-performing states in the country in the area of school education. “The turnaround of government schools under the Mann government has shown how purposeful governance can lead to meaningful change,” Dhanda said.

He said that the education sector of Punjab is witnessing unprecedented improvements as improved infrastructure, modern classrooms and better learning environments are enabling the students to perform at higher levels.

Government Schools

Dhanda also lauded the Punjab government for giving priority to education from the very beginning of its tenure. Over the past few years, the state has invested heavily in refurbishing school buildings, setting up smart classrooms, upgrading sports facilities and improving teacher training programs.

The government has also tried to bridge the gap between private and government schools so that students from all backgrounds have access to quality education.

Punjab Among Top Performers in

Dhanda said the schools of Punjab are now getting national recognition, which is a matter of pride for the state. The state’s improved rankings show the success of policies aimed at learning outcomes, not just administrative goals, he said.

The progress of Punjab was proof that incessant investment in education could pay long-term dividends for students, their families and society at large, he said.

A Model for Other States?

Dhanda further said that the education reform process in Punjab was turning out to be a benchmark for the other states to follow for strengthening their public education system. He said delegations from various parts of the country have also shown interest in learning how Punjab has been able to improve government schools in a relatively short time.

As debates about the quality of education rage across India, Punjab’s success is becoming a case study of how public schools can compete with the best, if they are given the right resources and support.
