Bhagwant Mann Bust Cross-Border Illegal Arms Module in Amritsar, Five Accused Arrested

The accused allegedly coordinated the supply of illegal weapons from across the border and distributed them in different parts of the region.

Bhagwant Mann: In a major breakthrough against illegal arms trafficking, the Punjab Police has dismantled a cross-border arms smuggling module operating in Amritsar. The operation was carried out by the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, leading to the arrest of five accused and one juvenile involved in the illegal network.

According to the Gaurav Yadav, police teams also recovered five sophisticated pistols, including Glock 9mm, PX5 .30 bore, Taurus 9mm, Gretta 9mm made in Pakistan, and one .30 bore pistol, along with 34 live cartridges and a sharp-edged weapon during the operation.

Bhagwant Mann: Links with Pakistan-based arms smugglers

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested individuals were in contact with Pakistan-based arms smugglers through social media platforms. The accused allegedly coordinated the supply of illegal weapons from across the border and distributed them in different parts of the region.

Police officials said the network was actively working to circulate sophisticated firearms, which could have posed a serious threat to law and order in the state.

FIR registered, investigation continues

An FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at Maqboolpura Police Station, and further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the module and identify other individuals involved in the smuggling network.

The Punjab Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms trafficking and organized crime, stating that strict action will continue against such networks to ensure public safety across the state.
