Bhagwant Mann: Expands Healthcare Coverage; Over 40 Lakh Enrolled Under Sehat Yojana

The initiative aims to provide accessible and affordable healthcare services to a large section of the population.

The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has highlighted significant progress in strengthening the state’s healthcare system through its flagship ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’.

According to an official statement, more than 40 lakh beneficiaries have already been enrolled under the scheme across Punjab. The initiative aims to provide accessible and affordable healthcare services to a large section of the population.

Bhagwant Mann: Cashless Treatment up to ₹10 Lakh

Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are entitled to cashless treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family annually. The coverage is available at empanelled government as well as private hospitals, ensuring wider access to quality medical facilities.

Officials stated that the scheme is part of a broader effort to build a robust and equitable healthcare system in the state. By integrating both public and private healthcare providers, the government seeks to reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses and improve treatment accessibility.

The initiative also emphasizes access to advanced medical treatments, enabling patients to receive specialized care without financial constraints. This is expected to particularly benefit economically weaker sections who often struggle to afford high-cost procedures.

The state government has projected the scheme as a step toward making quality healthcare a guaranteed right for every citizen. Authorities believe that expanding insurance coverage and strengthening healthcare infrastructure will play a key role in improving overall public health outcomes.

Public Response and Impact

The scheme has reportedly received a positive response from residents, with a steady increase in enrollments and hospital participation. Health officials note that such initiatives are crucial in bridging healthcare gaps and ensuring timely medical intervention.
The Punjab government reiterated its commitment to further expanding the reach of welfare-driven health programs, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility.
