According to the minister, around 10.63 lakh people suffering from drug addiction have been provided treatment, skill development opportunities and rehabilitation support as part of the campaign. The initiative aims not only to address addiction but also to help affected individuals reintegrate into society through employment and training programs.

The government also highlighted the role of Village Defence Committees, which have been actively participating in efforts to make Punjab drug-free. These committees are assisting authorities by spreading awareness at the community level and supporting local initiatives against substance abuse.

In addition to anti-drug measures, the government has urged families across Punjab to obtain a health card that provides free medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh. Officials said the scheme is intended to ensure better access to healthcare services and financial protection during medical emergencies.

The state administration said these initiatives are part of a broader effort to bring positive change in the healthcare sector while improving the overall well-being of citizens. Authorities believe that strengthening healthcare infrastructure and addressing social issues like drug addiction will contribute to long-term development in Punjab.
