In view of the worsening flood situation across several districts, the Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken major steps to ensure timely medical relief and emergency response in affected areas.

The state Health Department has been put on high alert, with clear instructions to remain fully prepared for any emergency. As part of the response plan, 172 ambulances have been deployed to flood-affected regions to provide immediate medical assistance to people in need.
Government has stationed 438 Rapid Response Teams (RRTs)
In addition, the government has stationed 438 Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) and 323 Mobile Medical Teams (MMTs) across vulnerable areas. These units will work round-the-clock to ensure that residents receive timely healthcare support, including treatment for waterborne diseases that often follow floods.
To strengthen rural healthcare, the government has also directed that ambulances be stationed in flood-affected villages to ensure that even remote populations are not left without medical aid.
Officials stated that the move reflects the Mann government’s commitment to safeguard lives and prevent health crises during natural calamities. The government has urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately contact health teams in case of medical emergencies.
