Bhagwant Mann: The latest operation marks another significant push by Punjab Police India under its ongoing anti-narcotics mission, which has now crossed 360 days of continuous enforcement. Officials said the seizures of heroin, intoxicant tablets, and drug money highlight both the persistence of trafficking networks and the effectiveness of targeted intelligence-based action.

Authorities stated that special teams were deployed across several districts of Punjab, with coordinated raids planned to dismantle supply chains rather than just intercept individual carriers. Investigators are now examining links between those arrested to trace interstate and cross-border networks suspected of fueling drug circulation in the region.

Police officials also stressed that rehabilitation remains a crucial pillar of the campaign. The counselling of 30 individuals for de-addiction reflects the department’s approach of combining strict law enforcement with social intervention. Experts believe such dual-strategy models—arrests plus rehabilitation—are essential for long-term reduction in substance abuse.

With a cumulative total of 51,305 smugglers arrested in 362 days, authorities say the data underscores the scale of the challenge as well as the intensity of enforcement. Senior officers indicated that surveillance along vulnerable routes, digital tracking of suspects, and community intelligence inputs will be further strengthened in upcoming phases of the drive.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has consistently reiterated that the state government will sustain pressure on drug syndicates until the menace is uprooted. Officials maintain that the campaign’s objective is not only to curb illegal trafficking but also to protect youth, restore public safety, and reinforce trust in law-enforcement institutions.
