Bhagwant Mann Intensifies Crackdown on Drugs, 85 Smugglers Arrested on Day 382 of Campaign

The Punjab Police has reiterated its commitment to continue the programme with full force, combining strict legal action with community-level intervention.

Bhagwant Mann: The Punjab Police has continued its aggressive anti-drug programme “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” marking Day 382 with fresh investigation across the state. The ongoing drive, launched to eliminate drug networks, has shown sustained enforcement efforts under the state government’s broader anti-narcotics strategy.

Bhagwant Mann: Drug Smugglers Arrested

According to official information shared by the Punjab Police, a total of 85 drug smugglers were arrested during multiple raids conducted across Punjab. The investigations carried out by teams of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in coordination with local police units.

The police also recovered:

  • 255 grams of heroin
  • 3 kg of opium
  • 680 intoxicant tablets and capsules
  • ₹1,400 in suspected drug money

These recoveries highlight the continued presence of both synthetic and traditional narcotics in the region.

Statewide Raids Conducted

The crackdown involved coordinated raids at multiple locations across Punjab. Officials stated that the operation is part of a long-term strategy aimed at dismantling supply chains and targeting both small-scale peddlers and larger trafficking networks.

Focus on Rehabilitation

In addition to enforcement, the campaign also emphasizes rehabilitation. On Day 382, 56 individuals were persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, reflecting the government’s dual approach of strict policing along with social reform.

Over 54,000 Arrests So Far

Cumulatively, the campaign has led to the arrest of 54,134 drug smugglers over 382 days. The figures underline the scale of the anti-drug drive and the administration’s continued focus on tackling the narcotics problem in the state.

Government’s Ongoing Commitment

The anti-drug अभियान is being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, with a focus on making Punjab drug-free. Authorities maintain that enforcement actions will continue with equal intensity in the coming days.
