Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently met an elderly woman popularly known for her distinctive ‘tun-tun’ sound on mobile phones, highlighting the support being provided to senior citizens through the state government’s social security assistance schemes.

Sharing details of the interaction, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab unit said Mann expressed happiness after meeting the woman and said the interaction brought him a sense of satisfaction.
The Punjab government has been providing social security assistance to eligible beneficiaries, with financial support being transferred periodically to help families meet their needs. According to the statement shared by AAP Punjab, the assistance is provided for periods of three months at a time.

During the interaction, Mann said such support provides an important helping hand to elderly people and their households. He also reiterated his commitment to continuing work for Punjab and its residents.
The Chief Minister further said that there is still extensive work to be done for the state and its people. His remarks focused on public service and the government’s efforts to support different sections of society.
The meeting was highlighted by AAP Punjab as an example of the government’s engagement with beneficiaries of its welfare initiatives. The party said the interaction with the elderly woman left Mann deeply satisfied.
Social security assistance remains one of the welfare measures through which the Punjab government seeks to provide financial support to eligible senior citizens and other beneficiaries.
