CM Yogi Adityanath government constitutes special benches for government and public land cases

The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced a major reform in the state’s revenue justice system by constituting three-member Special Benches to hear cases related to government and public land under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath.

According to the government, the special benches will deal with matters involving Gram Sabha land, Nazul land, evacuee properties, and notified properties. The initiative aims to ensure faster disposal of cases, greater transparency, and uniformity in decisions concerning sensitive land disputes.

The newly constituted special benches will function in Lucknow and Prayagraj

The newly constituted special benches will function in Lucknow and Prayagraj, with hearings scheduled every Wednesday. The government has also made it mandatory for all pending as well as newly filed cases falling under the specified categories to be listed before these benches.

The state government said the reform is intended to streamline the adjudication process and strengthen the revenue justice system by reducing delays in the disposal of land-related disputes. It added that a dedicated mechanism would help improve consistency in judicial decisions while safeguarding public and government land.

According to the government, the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to improve governance, enhance transparency, and make the administration more efficient through institutional reforms in the revenue sector.
