The government of Uttar Pradesh has increased the monthly pension for elderly citizens, destitute women, and persons with disabilities from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500. The decision has been taken under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath with the aim of providing greater financial support to vulnerable sections of society.
According to the state government, the move reflects its commitment to ensuring security, dignity, and social support for every section of society. Officials said the enhanced pension will help beneficiaries manage daily expenses more effectively and improve their quality of life.
CM Yogi Adityanath : Support for vulnerable sections
The pension schemes are designed to support elderly citizens, destitute women, and persons with disabilities who often face financial challenges. By increasing the monthly assistance, the government aims to provide stronger social security and ensure that beneficiaries receive adequate support from the state.
Focus on welfare initiatives
The government stated that the step is part of its broader welfare agenda aimed at strengthening social protection systems in the state. Several initiatives have been launched in recent years to improve access to welfare schemes and ensure that financial benefits reach the intended beneficiaries in a transparent and timely manner.
Officials said the enhanced pension will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Aim to strengthen social security
The state government believes that the increased pension will provide financial stability to thousands of beneficiaries across rural and urban areas of the state. By strengthening social welfare measures, the administration aims to ensure that economically weaker and vulnerable citizens receive consistent support from the government.
Authorities also emphasized that welfare schemes targeting senior citizens, women, and persons with disabilities remain a key priority, and further steps will continue to be taken to improve their living conditions.
