CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled a new vision for the state’s tourism sector that goes way beyond infrastructure. Through his review of the Tourism Department, he made it clear that Uttar Pradesh is not just a hub for pilgrims. It is something more. The cultural consciousness of India, the spiritual basis, and the knowledge collected over centuries. The framing, officials say, is meant to reorient the entire state view of tourism—not as a building exercise but as a force for everyday prosperity.

Linking Tourism to Real Livelihoods

The Chief Minister was very clear about what he wants tourism to deliver. Cultural revival, jobs, stronger local economies and a place on the world stage. When tourists come to visit, they don’t just see monuments, they buy, he said. Handicrafts attract new customers, local food finds a wider audience, traditional arts and the service sector get a boost. According to him, every temple town has the potential to be an economic engine and every visiting pilgrim becomes a customer for the artisan next door.

Protecting Ancient Indian Knowledge

Much of the review was devoted to the Gyan Bharatam Mission, the state’s effort to identify, digitize and preserve ancient manuscripts. Under the initiative, officials briefed the Chief Minister that more than 13.7 lakh manuscripts have been already surveyed and preserved.

New Circuits and a Renewed Tourism Policy

The meeting also discussed the proposed amendments to the Tourism Policy-2022 with the CM pitching for making Uttar Pradesh a premier destination for investment, innovation and experience-led tourism.

Heritage Projects Appear

The projects under construction include the INS Gomti Shaurya Museum which will feature interactive galleries and simulators to showcase India’s naval history and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum coming up in Agra. “It is the duty of the state to share the stories of national heroes with young people, to the next generation,” the CM said.
