DA Hike: Officials said on Tuesday that the Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to provide its workers an extra 4% in dearness allowance (DA). According to them, 68,818 state government employees and 33,200 pensioners will benefit from the increase, which takes effect on January 1.
State’s Financial Commitment
This increase brings the dearness relief (DR) for pensioners and the DA for employees to 50%. They said that the state must spend an extra Rs 124.20 crore annually on this. “Under the guidance of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, our double-engine sarkar is committed to the welfare of all citizens, including those dedicated to delivering government services,” Chief Minister Pema Khandu posted on X.
Piyush Goyal Announces 4% Dearness Relief and Allowance Increase
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said earlier on March 7 that the Central government had approved an increase of 4% in Dearness Relief for retirees and Dearness Allowance for government employees starting on January 1, 2024. Dearness Relief and Dearness Allowance will be more than 50% after the rise. The Union Cabinet raised the dearness allowance and dearness relief by 4 percentage points to 46% in October 2023, taking effect from July 1, 2023. This was the last rise in the programme.
