EPF New Rule

EPFO: When you switch jobs, do you know what happens to your Employee Provident Fund (EPF)? This article will help alleviate any concerns you may have about starting over or moving your EPF to a different workplace. The Indian government offers the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), a vital retirement savings programme, to help guarantee employees' financial stability.

The topic of what to do with your EPF account comes up when you change jobs. Some may consider opening a new EPF account and closing their old one, however doing so may result in the loss of any benefits that were accumulated in the prior account. Transferring your EPF account to your new job is a preferable alternative. These step by step guide will allow you on how to use your Universal Account Number (UAN) to transfer your EPF account.

How to Transfer Your EPF Account with UAN

  1. Log In to EPFO Portal: Visit the EPFO official website and log in using your UAN and password.
  2. Initiate Transfer Request: Go to the 'Online Services' section and select "One Member - One EPF Account (Transfer Request)".
  3. Fill in Details: Enter the required details and verify them for accuracy.
  4. OTP Verification: Verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile number to generate a pre-filled Form 13.
  5. Submit Form 13: Print Form 13, sign it, and submit it to your current employer within 10 days.
  6. Approval Process: Wait for your employer's approval. You’ll receive SMS notifications at each stage of approval.

Documents Needed for EPF Transfer

  • ID Proof: Aadhar Card, PAN Card, etc.
  • Employment Details: Information of current and previous employers.
  • Bank Account Details: Your bank account information for verification.

How to Check Your EPF Transfer Status

  1. Log In to EPFO Portal: Use your UAN and password to access your EPF details.
  2. Track Claim Status: Go to the “Services” section and select “Track Claim Status”.
  3. Enter Reference Number: Use the reference number provided during your application to view the status of your transfer request.
