Gorakhpur Link Expressway: CM Yogi Connects Gorakhpur to Delhi, Travel Time Reduces to….

The mega Gorakhpur Link Expressway is fast approaching, and it will be the turning point in travel and logistics in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. According to Zee News reports, this mega infrastructure project will allow vehicles to travel between Noida and Ghaziabad and travel to Gorakhpur in only 9 hours due to its high-speed corridor and up-to-date construction specifications.

The expressway will be an essential component of an expanding road system that is envisioned by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in interconnecting urban and rural centres in Uttar Pradesh to help the movement of goods and people much faster.

Project Overview and Route Details

Gorakhpur Link Expressway is about 91 kilometres long and extends the Purvanchal Expressway (near Azamgarh) to Gorakhpur. The road has 6 lanes (expandable to 8 lanes), as well as controlled access, wide medians, and good safety infrastructure, including road crash barriers, underpasses, and emergency lanes.

The expressway will also run across various districts such as Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Gorakhpur, amongst others, which will substantially cut down the traffic on the current highways and provide a safer and faster travel route.

Economic and Strategic Importance

This is more than a road; it is a spark to the economy. The expressway will enhance the smooth flow of the supply chain, create attraction for industrial and agricultural investments, and generate emerging opportunities in tourism, especially in the spiritual routes around Gorakhpur and the adjoining areas.

Furthermore, the expressway will boost the connectivity between Eastern UP and Western UP as a logical connection between the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressways, because of which interstate trade and transportation will go more smoothly.

Timeline and Current Status

The officials stated that the construction is in its final stages, and the major structural work is already completed. Landscaping, maintenance of roads, toll plaza set-ups, and the final touches are being introduced. In the coming months, trial runs will occur, and the expressway is to be thoroughly operational in late 2025.

Not only will such a high-speed corridor cut down the travelling time and the cacophony in the traffic vehicles, but it will also improve the image of the state infrastructure on a national scale.
