Following the gruesome terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left one tourist dead and at least 12 others injured, yoga guru Baba Ramdev reacted strongly, calling upon every citizen to rise as a “warrior” in defense of the nation.
In a fiery public statement, Ramdev condemned the incident and pointed toward a “dangerous ideology” fueling such violence. Without mincing words, he said, “Hindustan mein do tarah ke Musalman hain — ek deshbhakt aur ek woh jo Pakistan ke agenda par kaam karte hain (There are two types of Muslims in India — those loyal to the nation and those who work on Pakistan’s agenda).”
He further emphasized the need to differentiate between religion and terrorism, stressing that such attacks were not a matter of faith, but of “radicalized mindset” that must be firmly dealt with.
‘Every citizen must become a warrior’
Referring to the Pahalgam attack, Ramdev said, “Today, every person in the country has to stand up for the nation like a warrior. The time has come to crush such terrorism and their ideological supporters.”
Ramdev also questioned Pakistan’s continued sheltering of terrorist organizations, blaming it for the ongoing instability in the region. He said the global community must take a stronger stand against cross-border terrorism.
Background on the attack
The terror attack occurred in the tourist town of Pahalgam, a region often seen as a symbol of peace and natural beauty. Eyewitness accounts claim that the assailants specifically targeted non-Muslim tourists after confirming their identity. The victims included people from various Indian states who had come to enjoy the summer break in the valley.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an urgent phone call with Home Minister Amit Shah, directing him to take immediate action. An emergency meeting was convened at the HM’s residence, and Shah is expected to visit the site personally.
