Holi 2026 Haircare Tips For Epic Celebrations! How To Protect Your Hair Before The Colours Fly?

Holi 2026: Before Holi, get a pre-Holi trim to remove split ends, which snag colours quickly and easily. Choose protective styles like loose braids, buns or a sleek ponytail. Wrap a shower cap or silky scarf under a dupatta as silk helps in minimizing friction and static.

Holi 2026: Thefestival of colours is all around the corner. Streets all around would explode in vibrant colours & gulal, water balloons and thandai toasts. However, one casualty often emerges amid the joy: your hair!

This is primarily because synthetic colours packed with harmful chemicals such as paraphenylenediamine (PPD) could strip moisture from your hair, causing breakage and damage. Thankfully, you can always count on expert-backed hair hacks to keep your locks lush, shiny and colour-resistant for uninterrupted fun.

Pre-Holi Shield: Build A Colour Barrier

Start oiling up generously 2-4 days before Holi. You can try out coconut oil mixed with onion or amla juice (add a few drops of argan oil if possible) to form a natural shield. This would help in repelling colours while nourishing hair follicles. Ideally, you should massage your scalp with the oil and leave it overnight. In the morning, wash it with a mild, natural shampoo lightly.

Holi 2026-Hair Conditioning Cocktail

Brew a DIY mask of honey, curd and fenugreek powder. Apply this hair mask 48 hours pre-fest to strengthen strands against any form of chemical assault. Rinse with cold water to seal cuticles. If you have coloured hair, it’s best to use a purple shampoo to neutralize brassiness from vibrant hues.
