Inspirational Stories: Meet the IPS Officer Who Left NASA for Civil Service, Conquering UPSC in 5th Attempt

Thousands of applicants attempt to pass the exams to become IAS, IFS, IPS, and IRS each year.In the toughest exam, very few of them are successful.Today, we’ll discuss an IPS officer who quit a lucrative position at NASA and succeeded in the UPSC on his fifth try.

Anukriti Sharma’s Early Life and Education in Ajmer

Anukriti Sharma, an IPS officer, is from the Rajasthani city of Ajmer. Her mother was a teacher, while her father was employed by the 20-point department. The Indo Bharat International School in Jaipur is where Anukriti completed her education. She then flew to Kolkata to enrol in the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research’s BSMS programme. While still a student, Anukriti met Vaibhav Mishra, a native of Banaras. Their friendship gradually became stronger and developed into love. Both were selected in 2012 for doctoral programmes at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Vaibhav said he wanted Anukriti to go to America with him. His family recommended them to first get hitched. As a result, they were wed in 2013.

Anukriti and Vaibhav’s Financial Success

She said that they were each making more than Rs 2 lakh each month, according to Jagran. However, she did go back to India. In the 2014 National Eligibility Test (NET) Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) test, Anukriti placed 23rd, but her husband Vaibhav Mishra took first position. After that, while residing in Banaras, Anukriti and her husband Vaibhav started their preparation for the civil service. Anukriti and her spouse supported one another as they studied for the UPSC. Sharma was picked for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) because of her perseverance and excellent work ethic, which enabled her to reach the All India 355th rank on her third attempt. She succeeded in her second attempt, earning the 138th All India rank and joining the IPS. Anukriti Sharma gives appreciation to her spouse as well as her parents for helping her prepare for the UPSC exam. IPS Sharma is now Bulandshahr’s assistant superintendent of police. Anukriti’s spouse Vaibhav is a teacher in a coaching centre in Delhi.
