IRCTC Down: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and app have been showing repeated login and error message to tatkal booking users since Tuesday morning.
IRCTC’s Claim
On December 4, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had claimed that the IRCTC website was up for 99.98% of the time between April and October 2025.
However, the fresh wave of user complaints truly suggest that even brief glitches during peak minutes can trigger anger among passengers while derailing the entire train booking process.
Several frustrated users claimed they were unable to book Tatkal tickets despite multiple attempts.
Downdetector Shows 68% Outage
Downdetector highlighted a spike with 68 percent users reported issues on the website. Downdetector said 68 outage reports were recorded from major metro cities such as Kolkata, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. 31 percent flagged issues with the IRCTC mobile app.
IRCTC Down: Why Tatkal Bookings Face Issues?
Tatkal booking operates in a short period of time, leaving little room for retries. Even a very short delay or error can translate into a missed rail ticket, which makes users more vocal and frustrated when things don’t go their way.
