Janmashtami 2024: Janmashtami or the birthday of Lord Krishna, the supreme preserver, is going to celebrate with faith and veneration this year on the 26th of August. The day holds great importance in Sanatan Dharma and marks the divine birth of Lord Krishna. As the devotees make preparations for the major holiday of this festival, knowing the detail of the worship methodology and the point of time for its being auspicious shall really make the celebration more celebratory and ensure the observance with due piety.
Auspicious Timing for Worship
Nishita Puja is a very important part of Janmashtami, and for this, the muhurat has been set from between 12:06 AM and 12:51 AM on 26th August. Truly, it is the best muhurat for performing all the main rituals. This year, Janmashtami is featuring another smarter part of yoga: Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, amid a rare alignment of 30 years; Saturn is in its own sign, Aquarius.
Important Dates and Timings
The Ashtami Tithi, or the eighth lunar day, starts at 3:39 am on August 26 and continues until 2:19 am on August 27. Rohini Nakshatra, considered the star of the birth of Lord Krishna, prevails from 3:55 pm on August 26 to 3:38 pm on August 27. As per the religious texts, Parana or breaking the fast is done after Rohini Nakshatra ends, which will happen now, on August 27, at 3:38 pm. Thus, devotees can break their Janmashtami fast and end the Parana from 12:45 am on August 27.
Worship Methodology
On this divine day, to honor Lord Krishna, the devotee should take a bath early in the morning and meditate on the lord. Keep a fast, offer the ritualistic worship of the infant Bal Gopal in a very scrupulous manner, and decorate his cradle. Then, he should be gently rocked in the cradle. anoint Bal Gopal with milk and Gangajal, dress him in new clothes, and adorn with sandalwood and a Vaijayanti garland. Offer a variety of bhog including Tulasi leaves, fruits, makhana, butter, and sugar candy. Conclude the worship with the lighting of incense sticks and performing aarti. Chant This Mantra Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay, Om Krishnaya Vasudevay Govindaya Namo Namah.
