LPG Price Hiked: The inflationary trend began on February 1st, only hours before the budget was announced. Beginning today, February 1, the price of LPG cylinders has gone up due to increases by oil marketing corporations. The cost of the 19-kilogram commercial cylinder has increased. The cost of home cooking gas, or the subsidised 14 kg LPG cylinder, has not changed.
Delhi’s LPG Price Surge
In the capital city of Delhi, the cost of an LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 14 as of right now, to Rs 1769.50. In Kolkata, the cost of an LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 18 to Rs 1887. In Mumbai, an LPG cylinder now costs Rs 1723.50, an increase of Rs 15. A 19 kilogramme commercial LPG cylinder in Chennai now costs Rs 1937 per cylinder, an increase of Rs 12.50.
Minimal Decrease in LPG Cylinder Costs Last Month
On January 1, 2024, government oil firms lowered the cost of a 19 kg commercial cylinder. The cost of an LPG cylinder was only slightly reduced last month. In January, there was a mere 1.5 rupee decrease in the cost of a 19 kilogramme commercial LPG cylinder in several locations across the nation. The cost of a 14 kg household LPG cylinder remained unchanged in January as well. On August 30, 2023, the domestic LPG tariff underwent its most recent modification.
Nirmala Sitharaman to Unveil Interim Budget
The final budget of the Modi government’s second term will be presented today before the country’s Lok Sabha elections. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will do so in the Parliament at 11 a.m. This budget, which is an interim one due to the impending election, will include the government’s income and expense reports for the next several months. Given that the budget was approved shortly before the elections, the PM Modi administration at the Centre might attempt to meet the needs of all societal groups.
