The Lucknow Kanpur Expressway is a long-awaited infrastructure gem that is soon becoming a lifesaving highway. In an exclusive report by Hindustan Times, the motorway will soon have the country's first golden hour trauma centres and air ambulance services, marking a revolutionized way of providing emergency care on the highways.
A Fast Lane for Life-Saving Care
Lucknow-Kanpur Motorway is going to significantly reduce the travelling distance between two major cities of Uttar Pradesh, and its length is more than 62 km. However, what is special about it is its inclination to emergency response and trauma management. Officials have assured that trauma centres will be set up along the path, thus helping the injured people to seek medical access within the golden hour of up to 60 minutes, which increases the survival.
It also includes a helipad and air ambulance facility, which will help airlift critical cases to major hospitals in Lucknow or Kanpur. The highway will have intelligent sensors, CCTV surveillance, and immediate deployment, enabling rapid response and accurate monitoring.
Integration with National Emergency Systems
To promote efficient dispatch of assistance, this sophisticated medical aid network will be linked with 112 (UP Police emergency services) and 108 (ambulance services) networks in a single function. The government is also creating training teams among locals to deal with trauma in case of accidents and direct initial assistance until advanced medical assistance is available.
The trauma centres will have ICUs, minor operation rooms, doctors, paramedics, and will be able to treat severe road accidents and stabilize patients during transportation.
Expressway Safety Redefined
Apart from trauma support, the motorway will also incorporate contemporary design requirements such as wider lanes, anti-slip coating, and crash barriers. With the use of smart road technology and improved lighting, the vision of this motorway is to not only drive faster but also drive safer and smarter.
This has made this so-called model project by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for more motorways in India in the future.
With the Lucknow-Kanpur Motorway soon coming to an end, this will not only be a convenience and economic boost project but also a lifeline for the accident victims.
