Arun Gandhi was born in 1934 in Durban, South Africa. Arun was the fifth grandson of the Father of India, Mahatma Gandhi. During his upbringing in South Africa, he had to face humiliation many times due to the country's discriminatory laws.

Arun Gandhi kept doing a lot of work in writing along with social work. He left South Africa shortly after his marriage with his wife Sunanda. Arun Gandhi worked as a journalist in a big newspaper for 30 years. Arun Gandhi and his wife Sunanda saved more than 125 orphan children in Maharashtra. Along with this, he changed the lives of people in many villages of Western Maharashtra.
