MP News: Bhopal Celebrates Vibrant Rang Panchami Festival with Joyous Procession

Inspired by the traditions observed in Indore, traders in Bhopal initiated the practice of organizing Rang Panchami processions in the city.

MP News: The city of Bhopal is abuzz with excitement today as it celebrates the festival of Rang Panchami with fervor and zeal. Commemorating the occasion, a colorful procession will take place across the streets of Bhopal. Notably, it was under the banner of the Hindu Festival Committee that the first procession for Rang Panchami took place in Bhopal back in 1960. Inspired by the traditions observed in Indore, traders in Bhopal initiated the practice of organizing Rang Panchami processions in the city.

The festivities in Bhopal will kick off with a grand procession starting from Monday, followed by various events such as horse-drawn carriages and musical performances on Tuesday and Wednesday. The procession will see participants showered with colored powders using tankers. Organized under the auspices of the Hindu Festival Committee, this year’s Rang Panchami procession aims to uphold the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan and promote communal harmony.

High-Tech Machines to Disperse Colored Powders

A highlight of the procession will be the enactment of scenes depicting Shiv Parvati, Radha Krishna, and Braj Holi. Additionally, the event will feature traditional music and dance performances, including dhol-tasha, DJ music, and decorated bullock carts. Notably, state-of-the-art machines will be used to disperse colored powders over the participants during the procession.

Origins of the Rang Panchami Procession in Bhopal

The Rang Panchami procession in Bhopal traces its origins back to 1960 when it was first organized under the patronage of the Hindu Festival Committee. The procession would commence from Chauk Bazaar and wind its way through various neighborhoods before concluding at Hanuman Ganj. This route remains unchanged to this day, symbolizing the enduring traditions and cultural significance of the festival.

The Rang Panchami procession will begin from Subhash Chowk and traverse through several prominent areas, including Loha Bazaar, Janakpuri, Sindhi Market, and Lakherapura, before culminating at Hanuman Ji Ki Mediya. Mr. Devendra Singh Bana, coordinator of the Shri Hindu Utsav Committee, informed that the procession will witness the participation of saints, citizens, representatives of trade organizations, and members of social organizations.
