In a major push for industrial growth and employment generation, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday announced that the foundation stone for a new rail coach manufacturing unit will be laid on August 10 in Raisen district, located near the state capital Bhopal.
Taking to social media, CM Yadav stated, “Our government is committed to ensuring employment for the youth. The upcoming rail coach manufacturing unit is a step in that direction.” The move comes as part of the state government’s broader effort to attract industrial investment and create long-term, sustainable job opportunities for the state’s youth.
Boost to Make in India and Local Economy
The rail coach factory is expected to be a strategic addition to India’s “Make in India” mission, aimed at enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities. It will not only cater to the growing demand for modern railway coaches but also position Madhya Pradesh as a key industrial hub for railway infrastructure in central India.
Experts believe that the project could generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, from skilled labor in manufacturing to ancillary industries such as supply chain logistics, parts manufacturing, and services. Local businesses and educational institutions are also likely to benefit through training and partnerships.
Infrastructure Development in Raisen Region
The choice of Raisen for the rail coach unit underlines the government’s aim to decentralize development and bring high-value infrastructure projects to tier-2 regions. The district, known for its historical significance and proximity to Bhopal, will now play a vital role in India’s industrial map.
