Passport News: From now on, the mandatory verification process for an Aadhaar card will require a passport. This is due to the fact that verification for full Aadhaar enrollment will now be handled by state governments rather than the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Implementation of New Aadhaar Enrollment Procedure
"From Wednesday, only after the demographic verification from state authority, the enrollment in Aadhaar would be complete. One has to go through the process of verification just like a passport," said Lt Col Prashant Kumar Singh, deputy director general of UIDAI, Lucknow region. Additionally, only a few specific locations—the district's Aadhaar Seva Centre, the main post office, and subpost offices—will offer the ability to enrol for Aadhaar.
Data Validation Through Service Plus Portal
Following Aadhaar enrollment at the centres, the state authorities will receive the demographic data through the service plus portal for validation. The DM, ADM, and SDM offices as well as the UP government's planning department headquarters will have access to the data.
Verification for Non-Resident Uttar Pradesh Citizens
It's crucial to remember that Uttar Pradesh citizens who live in other states, union territories, or overseas are probably going to visit their home state in order to have their Aadhaar verified. The deputy director general of UIDAI Lucknow region made it clear that residents who are above the age of eighteen and are obtaining their Aadhaar for the first time are the target audience for these guidelines. Administrators in Lucknow, meanwhile, asserted that they have not yet received a formal letter outlining the new regulations.
UIDAI's Role Since Aadhaar Inception
Since the start of Aadhaar enrollment in 2010, UIDAI has been in charge of confirming the demographic information provided by applicants for Aadhaar, along with their proof of address and identity. As of Tuesday, 23.56 crore residents of Uttar Pradesh had registered for Aadhaar, according to UIDAI. Every month, 13,226 adults over the age of 18 sign up for Aadhaar on average. As of right now, 1,237 Aadhaar enrollment centres exist.
