‘Pakistan Steeped in Fanaticism and Terrorism…’ India Schools Pakistan at UNSC Yet Again, Says THIS on World Peace

During a potent rebuttal from the floor of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) debate on global peace and security, India\’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, attacked Pakistan, stating the country is “steeped in fanaticism and terrorism” and branding it as a “serial borrower from the IMF.”

The Indian envoy\’s comments came as a response to Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar\’s opening comments, who raised the Kashmir issue and labelled India as “violating” the Indus Waters Treaty after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 tourists. Dar labelled India\’s move “illegal and unilateral” and reiterated that Kashmir is an “internationally recognized disputed territory.”

“Terror-Supporting Nation Cannot Preach Peace”: India

Ambassador Harish, in a direct counter-offensive, lambasted Pakistan for its hypocrisy.

“A nation that fosters terrorism and routinely seeks IMF bailouts cannot self-identify as an ambassador for global peace,” he declared.

He reiterated India\’s sovereign right to protect residents from cross-border terrorism and cited Operation Sindoor, a targeted and calibrated response to terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir just after the Pahalgam attack.

India Affirms Its Democratic Strength and Status

Harish contrasted India’s image with that of Pakistan’s, stating that India is “a mature democracy, a fast-growing economy, and a pluralistic, inclusive society.” He also reiterated India\’s commitment to UN peacekeeping efforts, especially for women\’s participation in peacekeeping missions.

Appeal for Reform and Accountability on Terrorism

The ambassador concluded with a forceful plea for UN Security Council reform, saying that global institutions must change to reflect the outlined geopolitical realities. He called on the UN to inflict “serious costs” on countries that give safe haven or sponsor terrorism, consolidating India\’s status as a responsible global power.
